How it works

Three steps. Zero uploads.

01

Download your raw data

Export the raw genotype file from your testing company — usually a .txt, .csv or .zip.

02

Open it in DNA Is Mine

Drop it onto the Mac app or import it on iPhone and iPad. The format is detected automatically.

03

Read your report

Hundreds of thousands of markers are analyzed locally in about a second, then explained in plain language.

Not a policy. A design.

Most DNA services ask you to trust their servers. DNA Is Mine has no DNA server to trust.

Analyzed on-device

Parsing, matching and interpretation run entirely on your device — even for million-line files.

No account, ever

Nothing to sign up for. Nothing that links your genome to your identity.

Raw file never kept

Only the summary and the genotypes your report needs are saved — protected by device encryption and excluded from backups.

No network on Mac

The Mac app runs in Apple's sandbox without permission to make network connections at all.

No trackers

No analytics, ads or third-party SDKs in the app, and no third-party scripts or trackers on this website.

Delete in one tap

Remove a single report or all local data instantly and permanently.

Your report

Findings across five areas of everyday life.

Plain-language explanations of what research associates with your genotype — with the gene, the variant, your genotype and the evidence behind it.

Ask My DNA

Ask your DNA anything. Privately.

Apple's on-device model explains your own findings in plain language — grounded in your report and our research knowledge base. Never a cloud AI.

Answers from your findings

Every answer is built from facts in your own report, never from guesses about a variant.

See the evidence

Each answer shows the gene, variant, your genotype and the strength of the research behind it.

Honest when unsure

If there isn't reliable research, it says so instead of making something up.

Nothing leaves your device

Questions and answers stay on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. No cloud AI, no Private Cloud Compute.

Requires Apple Intelligence on a supported device. 3 free questions; unlimited with Pro.

What does my DNA say about caffeine?

Two of your findings relate to caffeine. Your CYP1A2 genotype is associated with faster caffeine metabolism, so its effects may wear off sooner. Your ADORA2A result suggests you may feel caffeine's jittery effects more strongly. Both rest on limited evidence — and genetics is only one factor.

Science you can check

Every finding shows how strong the evidence is.

A fixed, published rubric scores each finding from 0 to 100 — study design, replication, effect size, GWAS significance and population breadth. No hand-picked labels, no hype.

Questions

Is my DNA uploaded anywhere?

No. Your file is read and analyzed on your device. There is no DNA server, no account and no analytics. On Mac, the app doesn't even have permission to use the network.

Which files are supported?

Raw genotype files from 23andMe, AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, FamilyTreeDNA, WeGene, Genebox, Living DNA and most other genotype exports in .txt, .csv, .tsv, .zip or .gz format. VCF and whole-genome files are planned.

Is this medical advice?

No. DNA Is Mine is for informational and educational purposes only. It does not diagnose disease or recommend treatment, and it does not include disease-risk, cancer, Alzheimer's or drug-dosing reports.

How is the confidence score calculated?

The same fixed rubric is applied to every finding: study design (up to 35), replication (30), effect size (15), genome-wide significance (15) and population breadth (5). It describes how solid the research is — not how likely a trait is for you.

What is Ask My DNA?

Ask questions like “What stands out in my DNA?” and get answers written by Apple's on-device foundation model — using only facts from your own report and our research knowledge base. It never guesses what a variant means, never uses a cloud AI, and your questions never leave your device. It requires Apple Intelligence on a supported device.

Can I try it without a DNA file?

Yes. The app includes a fictional sample genome so you can explore a complete report first.
